...paradise is Ohio (to Indiana)

After two gruelling days and feeling ill, very ill (the photo's are taken and will never be published) the idea of following a flat profile and straight road all the way from Columbus to Indianapolis was uplifting just in itself, truly couldn't have ridden through the mountains again. In this respect, the road out of Ohio can only be described as paradise!

Highway 40 West was just perfect, still a struggle from feeling ill but after 50 miles in cooler temperatures, now down to 80 degrees and cloud the day would prove far more straightforward for rider and crew. It delivered juts that.

For anyone who wants to ride in the US but is anxious about the roads and traffic I can honestly say that in the first three days there hasn't been one single issue, the State Highways are generally fairly quite and the shoulders are ok to ride on, the cars and trucks seems to cruise along giving you all the space you need. It was a pleasure (if still painful) to ride through Ohio, at times it seemed that we were back home in the UK!

The uplifting moment of the day, beyond the cycling, came when stopping to take the following photo, a lady appeared to ask 'You ok'  I replied 'I'm cycling to San Francisco to raise money for a good cause' she responded in a loud cheery (almost Sheriff car like way) 'be that story Brother, Halleluah'. These moments are what make the days so special in such a simple way, we are trying to capture them on Twitter #fromtheroad.

Similar to yesterday, we re-grouped to allow me to jump in the car for the last 15 miles into Indianapolis, the city approaches do get too busy with no benefit to the risk of riding the last few miles.

Our Motel on the outskirts of the city leaves a bit to the imagination of what may have have been a former glory, $50 for two people is a bargain, more so for the biggest bath and hottest water so far, this is the start of the daily recovery process.

(Again, lots more detail to follow when there is more time).
