..the stories behind the purpose of TransAm

Every year in the UK hundreds of babies and children suffer a stroke, a condition most commonly associated with the elderly.

Alfie Oakley was just two when he had his first stroke. Since then Alfie has had several further strokes, some mild and others severe. Despite having three major operations to reduce the risk of him having further strokes, there is no guarantee he won’t have another. Read about Alfie in this Touching Lives article, watch Alfie’s inspiring story on this video, or read about the related research funded by Action Medical Research.

Aiden was whisked away as a baby to the intensive care unit where the team began to reduce his body temperature to protect him from brain damage, a process known as cooling therapy. This breakthrough therapy is the product of research to which Action Medical Research has contributed.Aiden continues to do well, but will need further scans and follow ups.
